Our history

Kooyoora Ltd was incorporated on 12 January 2017 as an independent not for profit company limited by guarantee to provide professional standards and other services to charities, including charities that are Anglican dioceses, entities, colleges and schools, to enable them more effectively to fulfil their charitable objects.

Its initial sponsoring members are the Melbourne Anglican Diocesan Corporation Ltd and the Bendigo Anglican Diocesan Corporation Ltd, which dioceses funded the establishment costs.

Kooyoora Ltd operates largely on a fee for service basis, reserving the right to seek from a full participating member of the company, an initial establishment fee and an annual subscription. Membership of the company is not however a prerequisite to being a participating institution receiving the benefit of the company’s services.

Kooyoora Ltd acknowledges with gratitude the tireless efforts of its foundation Executive Director, Anne Baker in establishing the company.  We also acknowledge the generous and valuable contribution of Mr Ian Dallas, a founding director of the company whose resignation the Board accepted on 30 April 2019.  Mr Michael Shand AM QC is also a founding director of the company whose resignation the Board accepted on 15 October 2019.  Michael has made a significant contribution to the area of professional standards and the conceptualisation and implementation of Kooyoora.  Kooyoora would not be the company it is today without his vision, passion, commitment and sheer hard work.

We also acknowledge with gratitude the vision and leadership of Bishop Andrew Curnow AM who chaired the  Working Group that led to the formation of the company and the professional standards uniform scheme it now administers.
