Church authority

The Church authority is the person or body which must give effect to the substance of any recommendation for action against a Church worker.

For clergy, whether in active ministry or retired, it will generally be the Bishop of the Diocese, currently Bishop Matt Brain.

For lay people in a parish, the Church authority will generally be the Rector or Priest in Charge.

For a particular case, consult the definition of Church authority in the Act.
