National Redress Scheme First Interim Report
The First Interim Report from the Joint Select Committee on the Implementation of the National Redress Scheme April 2020 has been released.
The First Interim Report from the Joint Select Committee on the Implementation of the National Redress Scheme April 2020 has been released and it reports “much more needs to be done.” The 3 core principles any scheme should be measured against are:
a) the Scheme must be survivor-focussed and trauma-informed;
b) the Redress process must proceed on the basis of ‘do no further harm’ to the survivor; and
c) amendments to the Scheme must be subject to proper consultation with key survivor groups. This report acknowledges that some work has been done but the National Redress Scheme is still not there yet.
